In this webinar, we looked at some of the most important legal issues that entrepreneurs, investors, and foundations should be paying attention to now as they plan for the next several months. It’s clear that social enterprises, on the whole, are faring better than their competitors in the current downturn because of better employment practices and more loyal customers. We covered strategies that can help your business continue to prioritize the health and well-being of your employees and stakeholders as we move into the next phase of the pandemic.
Topics we covered included the various loan programs that are currently available, business interruption insurance and claims, real estate, lease, and facilities renegotiation strategies, contract issues and claims, corporate employee assistance programs, and ongoing disaster relief philanthropy (for both funders and grantees). We also discussed reopening strategies and liability risks, including compliance with government orders, social distancing, workplace safety issues, payroll, PPP forgiveness, reasonable accommodations, remote work, hiring and firing, and other re-staffing and employment matters.
